-Closed Reflux, Colorimetric Method (By SM 2120B)


The platinum-cobalt method is useful for measuring color of potable water and of water in which color is due to naturally occurring materials. It is not applicable to most highly colored industrial wastewaters.

Color is determined by visual comparison of the sample with known concentrations of colored solutions. The unit of color being that produced by 1mg platinum/L in the form of chloroplatinate ion.
